Year 6 Memories by Oliwia

At school we were learning about World War I. One day Mrs Saunders told us that we were going to a play called “Pigeon who became a hero”. We were very excited about the play, we talked about it all day with our friends during the lessons and play time. The next day ,in the afternoon, we went to the Town Hall ,where it was acted out. We were very excited about it but waited patiently for it to begin. Suddenly, two ladies came towards us and started to introduce us to the play. After that, they stood in their position and then some music started playing, we watched very carefully. Suddenly the music stopped and the ladies started talking and acting. “It was amazing!” we all thought. It was so fantastic that we wanted to watch it again. At the end we had a picture with them and we could ask some questions. We thanked them for the play and then we needed to go back to school because it was nearly home time. At school Mrs Saunders showed us a book it was called “The Pigeon who became a hero”. Then she gave us a small booklet that was all about the Pigeon play. It had some writing about a competition. The competition was to draw a pigeon, I drew it but didn’t enter the competition. In the booklet there was a picture of a pigeon that we could colour it in, name it and give him a mission. Then we needed to go home and then it all finished.

Y6 MEMORIES

Our best memory is sewing. Some of us enjoyed

It but most of us didn’t like it. We sewed World War 1 sewing.

All of us sewed a poppy and some writing on the sewing.

It wasn’t easy but we still carried on.

Bronze Party by Jack

Bronze Party

We had our bronze party because everybody in the class got their bronze award. So we celebrated by watching a film, putting fruit in a chocolate fountain and eating it (it was yummy.) To get your bronze certificate you have got to get 100 smilies.

And if you don’t know what smilies are then here is what I’m going to tell you.

Smilies are mini rewards that you win by doing something good or helpful to other people, or maybe just for little jobs that help around the school or class.

Flash Mob by Maddison and Alysia

Flash Mob

The flash mob was to help raise money for a charity called Comic Relief we raised £270 altogether. We did it with the other Yr 6 class and we went round town, we danced to Michael  Jackson’s  Thriller . The funniest part was when a chicken started to dance with us at Sainsbury’s, we were shocked about the amount of money we raised doing this!!

We had to dress up in black and white we wore a white top and black trousers. We saw everybody coming out of their shops and looking out their windows somebody, was even having a wedding and we danced infront of them!
We thought it was awesome because everybody played there part, Mrs Saunders said we were fabulous, and Mrs Blair thought  we were excellent and talented. We thought we were fantastic and we were amazed about how many people watched us and donated. We loved it!

How not to grow cress.

as part of our science work this year we have looked at what plants need to live. We were all given 2 plates and some Cress seeds, we had to decide which conditions were needed to germinate the seeds. Some of us placed our seed plates in cold dark places (the store cupboard) other placed theirs on top of radiators (these dried out too quickly).

Le Tour de Yorkshire

In year 5 we looked at the Tour de France, so this year when the Tour de Yorkshire came to Selby we went around town at all of the decorations. Francheska counted 138 yellow and blue bikes. We even got a chance to see the trophy when it came to school.
